Portugal Residential – A5

The brief on this project was to gut, level all ceilings, straighten all walls, adjust floor levels, lift part of the roof and furnish the entire home. A mixture of antique and contemporary furniture and beautiful art was our starting point.
It is now an elegant home that exudes a sense of comfort and relaxation.

Set on a national heritage site near Sintra, this newly renovated home portrays the personality of the owners in its warmth and character. It was renovated to accommodate not only the family but also for the entertaining of extended family and friends. It is an entertainer’s delight and the renovation has opened up the spaces allowing them to flow easily into each other while still offering privacy and space to hide in if peace and tranquillity are required. As per the brief, ceilings were levelled, alcoves and curves straightened out and the roof was lifted in parts to allow for more usable space.

The changes to the roof created two extra bedrooms for the boys. These homes are nestled in on the golf course but still maintain total privacy – to complement this lush environment the garden was beautifully landscaped. From an eco-perspective, the electricity and heating are solar and any excess capacity is sold back to the grid. The majority of the furnishings were manufactured and procured in South Africa and shipped over to Portugal. Our installation team flew over to install.
