HOUGHTON 6th AVENUE
This project started with an old Houghton home that needed attention – while the ‘old bones’ of these period homes are fantastic, the internals are restricted with regards flow and light. The main objective was to respect the integrity of the old home but also to modernise the space and create an environment suited to a modern family.
The architect achieved the objectives set out by the client, and it was our task to compliment her vision by creating an environment that was sophisticated yet relaxed, serious yet frivolous and classic yet contemporary. The home is set out on various levels and it was essential to create a sense of connection between all these areas. We achieved this through continuity of style, colour, beautiful art and creating pockets of interest that are similar yet different.
Some of the furniture selected portrays a more contemporary look which is juxtaposed with a collection of beautiful old French antiques. We have used gorgeous fabrics and timeless, elegant and simple designs for the furniture. The owner has acquired her eclectic collection of art and artefacts over the years. It is these things that make a house a home.
